UNION TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES ADOPT POLICY TO DONATE PROPERTY TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

The Ohio Revised Code authorizes the Union Township Board of Trustees to dispose of unneeded, obsolete, or unfit for the purpose for which it was acquired personal property valued at $2,500.00 or less through donations to eligible nonprofit organizations. The Board intends to donate such Township personal property as provided in Union Township Resolution Number 2011-04.

A current list of items to be donated to eligible nonprofit organizations may be found at the Union Township office/hall throughout the year.

The Board has adopted the following terms and conditions for the donation program:

All nonprofit organizations desiring to obtain donated property from the Township shall submit a written notice to the Township Administrator at the following address: 1380 Beaver Run Road, P.O. Box 1208, Hebron, OH 43025.

The nonprofit organization’s written notice shall include evidence that the organization is a nonprofit that is located in Ohio and is exempt from federal taxation pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 501(a) and (c)(3); a description of the organization’s primary purpose; a description of the type or types of property the organization needs; and the name, address, and telephone number of a person designated by the organization’s governing board to receive donated property and to serve as its agent.

The Township Administrator shall maintain a list of all eligible nonprofit organizations that notify the Township of their desire to obtain donated property.

A list of all Township property available for donation will be maintained and posted continually in a conspicuous place in the Township’s office/hall.

An item of property on the list shall be donated to the eligible nonprofit organization that first declares to the Township Administrator its desire, in writing, to obtain the item.
